Artist Statement

I began painting over thirty years ago and in 2003 joined the Delaware Valley arts community. Working from the beauty of this region, I enjoy painting colorful local landscapes in oil. Although my paintings may lack conventional detail, they are explicit in what they convey. I reinterpret the landscape through the use of vibrant color, contrast and intensity of values, working to capture the essence of a memory and convey a sense of place and mood. I am inspired by the rolling hills and lush countryside of Pennsylvania and Tennessee, as well as the intense light of the Santa Ynez Valley of California and Northern New Mexico.  Comments or inquiries can be left via the Guest Book on this website or at: pennsylvania_impressionist@yahoo.com
